How mining works on Ambient today: live, curated onboarding waves for datacenter-class hardware, with a consumer Mini Miner on the roadmap.

Mining on Ambient is live today, in curated onboarding waves on datacenter-class hardware. A consumer path, the Mini Miner, is planned but not yet available.

Mining today: curated waves#

Onboarding is deliberately gated. New miners join in curated waves under an agreement with the Ambient team rather than through permissionless self-serve. Serving the flagship network model takes datacenter-class hardware.

What miners do on the network:

  • Bid on inference queries through the on-chain auction. A bid is a deposit, returned when the query completes within its promised time and forfeited if it does not; earnings come from network rewards, not the deposit.
  • Run inference on the network model, committing Proof of Logits hashes as they generate.
  • Validate peers' work when assigned: recompute a small, randomly selected portion of another node's output and confirm its logit hashes. This spot check is cheap relative to the original inference, and validation assignments are weighted by accumulated work credit.
  • Accumulate work credit (LStake) for validated contributions, which drives rewards and leader election. Invalid work is penalized by retrospective slashing of that work credit. See Tokenomics for the reward design.

Mini Miner: roadmap#

A consumer-hardware path, the Mini Miner, is on the roadmap. Hardware requirements will be published at launch.
